As the weather cools down and we head into winter, we seek warm and dry spaces to spend our days. So too do rodents, scurrying out of the cold and into our homes and business in search of food and warmth to begin nesting. With them they bring diseases and bacteria – none of which you want in your environment.

Last week we visited a home on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. After first thinking there was a problem with the fridge, the owners initially called out a service technician to check it.

What they found when moving the fridge out from the wall was a large pile of dog bones and dog food. How did they get there? The rats had been accumulating them. This resulted in cockroaches being attracted to the area and shorting out the fridge.

Rodent treatments should be a priority in your home or business:
•Rats can contaminate stored food;
•In a business environment, their contamination can close down and destroy a company’s reputation;
•Rats can transmit diseases;
•Rats can attract snakes;
•Rats can chew on your homes insulation, chew through floor and roof joists, even walls;
•They can also cause fires by chewing through you electrical cables.

There are a number of tell tail signs that you may have a rodent problem, here are just some of them:
•Rat droppings;
•Scratching noises;
•Rat footprints;
•Nests or burrows;
•A bad smell.

A rodent treatment is effective and safe to use around your property. If you have seen signs of rodents, call us today on +61 2 9979 5048 or contact us online so that we can talk about rodent control – www.propestcontrollers.com.au/rats-mice.
